BUDDY!

So, in a round-about way, Ben I are parents! On March 22, 2008 we adopted our baby! Baby puppy that is. His name is Buddy and he's a shih-tzu chihuahua mix. I don't care what people think, having a puppy is like having a child. I will admit that it probably isn't AS demanding and you can't leave a child home alone like you can a dog, but I'll tell you what...the first night we had him home, he woke us up every 2 hours crying because he needed to go potty and/or was hungry. The following morning, I was thinking, "Is it too late to give him back?" Anyway, it has all been worth it. The early mornings, accidents on the floor, throwing up, chewing on things, etc. He's such a cute dog and has such a playful personality! Here are some pictures from 6 weeks to 8 months old. As you will see, his fur has changed SO much since he was a baby. We actually just gave him the middle name "MJ" since he pulled a Michael Jackson on us and started out black, but is now white! So here's our little dog, Buddy! This was Buddy the first week we brought him home. At 6 weeks old he was no bigger than a toaster, weighed about 2 pounds, and had eyes that could just melt your heart...

This was Buddy's first big outting. When he was almost 4 months old, I took him with me to an event called "Strut Your Mutt" with the Clark Family in Salt Lake and he just stared at all of the dogs there. Everyone loved him and told me how cute he is! One lady actually asked me if she could take a picture of him!
This is Buddy at about 6 months old. They change so quickly and from 4 months old to 6 months was Buddy's big growth spurt. I didn't realize it because I saw him every day, but when people saw him after a month or so, they didn't think he was the same dog!
This is a sad story. On August 27th, Buddy had a little accident. He fell of the bed and broke his leg. This picture was taken on August 28th, the day before he had surgery on it. The surgery was a success, but the hard part was having a dog with a cast for 6 weeks!! He quickly adapted to walking with the cast on and even...
participated in a 5K walk for a fund raiser that my work was involved in. The first picture is how the walk started, and the second picture is how it went from about 10 minutes after it started until the end. At least Buddy was able to play with his good friend Bengle (Mandy and Patrick's dog) before he reverted back to my arms.

Um, that puppy is totally CUTE! My sis. has a dog and she swears that it is like having a newborn at the beginning, but I had to argue with her that she didn't have to carry it in her tummy for 9 months and then go through labor and delivery! :) But don't worry, I do understand how a pet can totally be like a member of the fam! Keep posting!! I love reading about your life :)
