One Month Old

Dear Krew,

I can't believe our little man is one month old already! You have been such a joy in our home and I can't imagine it without you. Ever since you were in my tummy, I knew you'd be a strong boy. You already hold your head up by yourself and have been since day 1. You have a little bit of a bobble head, but not like I expected from a newborn. The first time I put you on the Boppy for 'tummy time', you almost crawled right over the top of it! Your legs, although skinny, are very powerful and you like to use them.

You are also a very sweet boy. During your awake time, you will stare and smile at me as I talk to you. I wonder if it's just your facial muscles contracting or if you really are happy. I like to think it's the latter. When Dad gets home from work, he sometimes gives you kisses before he gives me kisses! I send him a picture of you daily and he says that's the best part of his day.

Everyone who meets you comments on how much hair you have for a newborn. It was dark brown when you were born, but as it has grown, it's become lighter. I think you'll be a little blondie :) You love having your head rubbed and your hair played with. You will even fall asleep in the tub while we're washing your hair. On that note, you LOVE bath time, but you love showers more! You can't get enough of the warm running water on your back, legs, and head.

You love to be held and are a very snuggly baby. You would be held 24/7 if you had your way. So far, there are plenty of people around that love to hold you so it's working out in you favor. One of Dad's favorite things to do is nap with you in his arms. When I'm holding you, I can't stop giving you kisses. I love kissing your little cheeks, and as the weeks have gone by, your little cheeks are getting a little bigger.

You're eating well and gaining weight like you should. At your 2 week doctor appointment, you were in the 35th percentile for weight and 53rd percentile for height. It looks like you'll be a tall skinny one if things keep going like this :)

On a little bit of an embarassing note, you have gas like a grown man already! You grunt, push, cry, and make your face turn red followed immediately by some pretty loud noises from your downstairs. It makes everyone laugh, but it better not continue into your adult life :)

You are such a bright eyed baby. Your eyes were really dark blue when you were born and we know that because they were open that whole day. Since then, they have lightened quite a bit, but I still don't think they're done yet. You love to look all around and see what's going on around you. You just barely started spending time on a colorful playmat staring at hanging toys which you quite enjoy.

You are a binky baby! Most of the time when you're fussy, we can stick a binky in your mouth and you quiet right down...unless you're hungry. There's no consoling you at that point. You're eating more and more which means you're growing and that makes me happy and sad at the same time! You've already grown out of your newborn clothes and are in 0-3 months and the day we noticed your newborn outfits were too small, I almost cried!

You had 3 friends born shortly after you. Max, Kamryn, and Finn. You haven't met Max yet, but the other 2 were pretty cool. I think you're already rolling with a good crowd :)

I'm sure there are plenty of things that I'm forgetting about how cute you are, but I'll just end by saying your Dad and I love you very much and are so excited to have you as part of our family. We can't wait to watch you grow and learn! You are by far our greatest accomplishment!

Love,

Mom

I think that the 1 day old picture is my favorite. : ) He is such a good looking kid already. That is a cute letter to him. Boys are definitely boys and come out tooting! I guess it is something that they are born with. Funny. Can't wait to see him. How are things going for you? Feeling good? Recovering?
